Weekly Update - April 11, 2012 - Need to Speak Up

Praise

Praise God for opportunities to share the Good News of Easter over this celebration weekend.  Thank Him for the many Christians that he has called to the Arabian Peninsula, and for the relationships He has led them to form with locals.  May they bear much fruit.

Prayer Video

This week please watch and pray for the Government of Qatar.

Prayer

We have some good contact with single men but it remains an challenge to have contact with families.  The families are busy with obligations to their extended families. But we believe that God's kingdom will best reproduce when families are turned to the Lord.  Pray that we can get in contact with nuclear and extended families who open their lives for input from God's Word.

Please pray for Christians who work in local Muslim homes as maids, nannies, tutors, and private teachers. Let's ask the LORD to make them loving & faith-filled witnesses, fulfilling all God's purposes for putting them where they are. Pray for protection over them.  Also, pray that the LORD will clearly confirm His truth to the Muslim family members and give them faith to trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

Please pray for the new president of Yemen. Ask that he will be a wise leader and that those who rule with him will be concerned for the needs of the people.  Please pray also for the lady still held hostage.  Pray that she will soon be released unharmed.

We are called to pray for our brothers and sisters who are suffering. Pray for one who is going through some difficult circumstances, unrelated to his beliefs but still very difficult. Ask that he will be freed from his troubles and that he will see that Christ worked in his life. Pray that this experience will help him and his family to grow in Faith.

Pray for the strength, safety, and fruitfulness of local indigenous believers who have recently spoken out in testimony on the Web.

Testimony

I was on a return flight in the Gulf.  On the initial flight, I had not shared the gospel with the fellow next to me, but later felt I should have.  So, on this flight, I told the Lord it was His call.  I pulled out my DVD movie and laptop, “just in case.”  But soon, a warm personality of African and European descent came to sit beside me.  We began with the typical airline introductions.  But in time, I asked permission to pose a personal question:  “If you died, and had to give God a reason to welcome you into heaven, what would you say?” That was all it took.  The rest of the trip was filled with questions and answers about the Bible and truth in general.  At one point, he decided to take out his cell phone and jot down some references from Romans and James to check out later with his wife. He had known some of the verses from his background in Catholicism and the Coptic church.  He proclaimed that he had never seen how it all works together until now:  Old Testament prophecies of Christ from the time of Adam and Eve, the substitution of Christ as a loving payment for our sin, and His coming back one day to establish His righteous kingdom.  When asked for a decision, he quickly responded with “thank you!”  He took my cell number to get in touch in our home country.  Pray for “Andre.”  God prepares the heart.  We just need to speak up.
